Michigan Personal Injury Lawyer Verdicts and Settlements

Andriacchi Law’s Michigan personal injury lawyers have won many cases over the years. Some cases have been covered in the local news, such as The Mining Journal and WLUC TV6 Upper Michigan Source. Some have been covered nationally, in Michigan, or online. This page summarizes just some of the results our law firm has had.

We have helped these clients in many courts, including the Michigan Supreme Court.

Because we only help people who have been seriously injured, you will see some big numbers on this page. These examples are not here to “estimate how much your injury is worth,” do not mean you will have the same outcome and are not a guarantee of any result.

Citizens, such as jurors, should definitely not read this for help deciding what a reasonable verdict should be. There are way too many differences between each case to compare one result to another.

For example: were there MRIs in one case and not another? What did the MRIs show? How old is the plaintiff? Will the injuries last the rest of the plaintiff’s life? What other severe injury did the plaintiff sustain, if any? Is that personal injury also documented in the medical records? There are simply way too many facts that simply can’t be included in a three-sentence summary on a website.

Also, remember that the reason a case is going to trial, to begin with, is that the defendant’s insurance company thinks the plaintiff’s injuries are worth less or otherwise and thinks they have a chance to not have to pay anything. They think they can convince the jury to give them an out. Otherwise, the case would have been settled, and a jury trial wouldn’t be needed. Maybe it’s a sympathetic or well-known defendant, and the insurance company thinks the jury will give them a free pass.

Next, these are not listed to brag. Frankly, I find it offensive when lawyers talk about how much money “they’ve collected” and then parade dollar amounts on their website or in commercials. They forget (or don’t care) that there was a human being involved, and those numbers represent someone’s severe injury or wrongful death. That’s not something to brag about.

On the other hand, we also understand that people want to know if we’re able to help them. They want to know if we have helped people with traumatic brain injury, catastrophic injuries, orthopedic injuries, etc. previously. They want to compare injuries and see if it’s the kind of personal injury cases we take.

Basically, they don’t want to make a mistake in one of the biggest decisions of their life. They want to hire personal injury lawyers who have taken serious personal injury cases before.

For that reason, we list our personal injury results.

So: these examples are to show only: (1) we help people who are seriously injured with all sorts of life-changing injuries; and (2) we have the knowledge, skills, and experience to help you.

Again, please remember that every one of these people had their life turned upside down and went through pain and misery. Some will suffer for the rest of their lives.

Traumatic Brain Injury Verdicts and/or Settlements:

$1,200,000.00 Jury Verdict – Traumatic Brain Injury in Trucking Accident:

A semi-truck driver was talking on the phone, not paying attention, and side-swiped our client who was in an SUV, causing a truck accident. The client suffered numerous neck injuries and a traumatic brain injury. Both the neck injuries and traumatic brain injury cannot be repaired and will last the rest of the client’s life (approximately 20+ years).

At trial in a Michigan court, the jury heard from the client’s doctors, friends, family, and co-workers about how the injury changed her life. These were permanent injuries.

The defense argued that the client was lying. The defense lawyer said it was a “sore neck” case and the plaintiff’s suffering, misery, and pain was worth, at most, $10,000.

After a five-day jury trial, the jury concluded that the defendant had taken a chunk of the client’s life and health from her. That chunk of health and life was worth $1,200,000.00.

$65,000 – Insurance Company Failed to Pay Michigan No-Fault Benefits Resulting from a Car Accident – Traumatic Brain Injury.

The client suffered multiple orthopedic injuries and a traumatic brain injury in a car accident. The insurance company paid for some of the medical bills and attendant care, but left a large portion of it unpaid. The medical providers and our client requested the insurance company pay for the medical bills multiple times.

After filing suit, the insurance company finally pays some, but not all, of the contested medical bills without telling us. Eventually, they acknowledge the client sustained a traumatic brain injury in the car accident and paid for its related medical care.

$45,000 – Insurance Company Failed to Pay Michigan No-Fault Benefits Resulting from a Car Accident and Severe Brain Injury:

The client had suffered severe injuries as a result of a decades-old car accident, one of which was a traumatic brain injury requiring constant 24/7 care. The client had permanent neurological damage in the auto accident.

The insurance company failed to cover some medical expenses that the injured client’s family paid out-of-pocket. The insurance company also never raised the attendant-care rate (amount paid for in-home medical services) in over 10 years.

After hiring us and without filing a lawsuit, the insurance company agreed to pay for the past medical expenses and raise the attendant-care rate an additional $4.50. In total, the client received approximately $45,000 in additional No-Fault benefits for the car accident.
